CTIA 2009: RIM BlackBerry App World Officially Launched

Here is a first look of the BlackBerry App World: We mentioned that BlackBerry App World would be announced at CTIA 2009. At last RIM has officially launched BlackBerry App World, yes it is now officially open for business which is exciting for all you BlackBerry users. Many of you have waited a long time for this one-stop app store to open and now the wait is over.

This kicked off at CTIA 2009 in Las Vegas; Research in Motion’s (RIM) is definitely a worthy contender to battle it out with the iPhone. First look; BlackBerry App World will allow you to browse, then purchase and then of course download apps straight to your BlackBerry device, you will need to download the storefront which you can do so by visiting www.blackberry.com/appworld from the BlackBerry Browser or mobile.blackberry.com. The all new BlackBerry App World icon will pop up on your home-screen when the downloading is finished, oh just so you all know; you MUST set up a PayPal account on your PC before you can purchase any apps.

PC World have a few details, here is a quick insight; you will get featured apps daily plus shortcut icons: Categories such as MyWorld, Top Downloads and Search, the main category list by genre include Video, Music, Games, Weather, News etc. It is basically similar to the iPhone Apps, BlackBerry App World will work with RIM devices running BlackBerry OS (version 4.2 or higher) that have a trackball or a SurePress touchscreen.
